Which way to drive?
The classic route to northern Italy runs through Czechia and Austria: Brno, Vienna, then the A2 towards Graz and Villach, entering Italy near Tarvisio - the gentlest crossing of the Alps. The alternative via Munich and the Brenner pass makes sense from western Poland. Warsaw-Venice is roughly 1,250 km, Krakow-Venice about 950 km.

Watch out in Italy
At Italian toll gates take a ticket on entry and pay on exit - the yellow Telepass lanes are for subscribers only and driving through one triggers a fine. In city centres watch for ZTL zones (limited traffic) - entering one with a camera at the gate means a ticket sent to Poland.
Distance and time
Warsaw to Venice is a solid 12-13 hours of driving, so most people sleep once - Vienna and Villach work best. From Krakow you can reach Venice in one long day. Rome adds another 530 km of Italian motorway on top.
